Artist's Statement
An assured observer, I grasp from the stuff of life intriguing images,
structures, patterns, and concepts. It could be shapes and edges revealed
in the microscopic forms of the human body, or perhaps it is the sudden
awareness of the pleasing curve of a font or logo that I see everyday,
that will attract my further investigation. A selection scanned, enlarged,
and manipulated reveals great visual potential in the abstraction
that is an innate part of this process and the medium. A sheer delight
in the visual properties of colour, composition, scale, and abstraction
is what I am able to explore, and in an edition of one, the original
digital print is the artifact of my process.

Background
Heather was born in Vernon and has lived in Kelowna for most
of her childhood and adult life. She earned her Bachelor of
Fine Arts degree, with Distinction, from the University of Victoria
at Okanagan University College in 1996. She has exhibited in
group exhibitions at the Kelowna Art Gallery, Alternator Gallery,
Galerie Verticale in Laval, Quebec, and Artropolis in Vancouver.
A love of the intersection between art and language has resulted
in the publication of her art reviews in the magazines Artichoke,
Espace, and Galleries West. Over the past fifteen years, she
has also periodically taught art classes for children at the
Kelowna Art Gallery.
